Job Opportunity: Hospice Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Westminster, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Description

• Position: Hospice RN
• Schedule: Every other weekend
• Unit: Inpatient unit
• Flexibility required for day and night shifts to cover staffing gaps
• Hospital accepts first-time travelers with either hospice experience or more than 10 years of total nursing experience

Requirements

• Licensure: Maryland RN license required at time of submission
• Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years nursing experience preferred (2 years may be considered)
  • Hospice experience preferred but not mandatory if total nursing experience exceeds 10 years
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• Skills:

  • Charting experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Education verification and transcript/diploma preferred
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to meet essential job functions
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
• Immunizations/vaccinations:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Respirator fit test completed onsite (not required for non-clinical)
• EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam as applicable
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Unit-specific skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Candidate must be flexible to fill in gaps in staffing, including day and night shifts
• Stroke and trauma CEUs may be required depending on unit assignment
• Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication may be required
• Various facility-specific policies and acknowledgments must be completed prior to start
