Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele)

Job Description

• Position at a major hospital campus in Cleveland, Ohio.
• Shift: 3x12-hour shifts (day/night rotating shifts, 7pm-7:30am and 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on hospital needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Responsibilities include Med/Surg Telemetry nursing duties.
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate competency testing required during orientation; passing scores mandatory.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience.
• Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (or RQI acceptable)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (or RQI acceptable)
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification (annual renewal required)
• Other certifications preferred or required depending on unit: PALS, NRP, TNCC, Chemotherapy certification (not required for Oncology).
• Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication dosing during orientation.

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required and updated regularly.
• Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Education verification required for all candidates.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing after 4/11/2025).
• Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually.
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
  • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start (typically takes multiple days).
• Must complete unit-specific competency exams annually.
• References: Two professional references from within the last year required (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty.
• Candidates must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
