Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position at a major hospital campus in Cleveland, Ohio.
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts (day/night rotating shifts, 7pm-7:30am and 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on hospital needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Responsibilities include Med/Surg Telemetry nursing duties.
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate competency testing required during orientation; passing scores mandatory.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience.
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (or RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross (or RQI acceptable)
- NIHSS Stroke Certification (annual renewal required)
- Other certifications preferred or required depending on unit: PALS, NRP, TNCC, Chemotherapy certification (not required for Oncology).
- Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication dosing during orientation.
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required and updated regularly.
- Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Education verification required for all candidates.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing after 4/11/2025).
- Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months and updated annually.
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start (typically takes multiple days).
- Must complete unit-specific competency exams annually.
- References: Two professional references from within the last year required (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar specialty.
- Candidates must be able to safely perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract for a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 18 months Med/Surg Telemetry experience, requiring Ohio licensure and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
