Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Ontario, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract (Part-Time)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Part-time ICU Registered Nurse position.
  • Must be willing to float to other campuses' ICU units if census drops to maintain hours.
  • Every Other Week (EOW) schedule required.
  • Time off requests limited to no more than 7 days; missed shifts must be made up or coverage found.
  • On-call travelers must return to the facility within 1 hour if called.
  • Typical staffing ratio: 3:1.

Experience & Certifications

  • Minimum 2 years of recent/consecutive ICU experience in a hospital/acute care setting required.
  • Knowledge of medication scanning required.
  • Certifications required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Proof of I9 or Attestation
  • Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
  • Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
  • 7-year Criminal Background Check (updated annually) including:
    • SSN Trace
    • National Criminal Search
    • National Sex Offender Check
    • OFAC
    • Education Verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (updated every contract renewal)
  • OH BCI and FBI Fingerprint Attestation (updated annually)
  • Education verification and license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for RNs within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask testing prior to start (specific mask types required)
  • TDAP vaccination within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required for flu season or approved exemption
  • COVID exemption form required if seeking medical or religious exemption

Training & Onboarding Requirements

  • Completion of online Healthstream modules by specified deadlines (modules must be completed onsite within first week)
  • Review and sign facility-specific job descriptions and policies prior to start
  • Completion of unit-specific competency exams and core training annually (must score 80% or higher)
  • Skills check-offs during first week (e.g., Stat Strip Nova Glucometer, Aseptic Compounding - IV Medications)
  • New employee orientation and sign-off forms required prior to start
  • Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire required
  • Attendance policy review and acknowledgment required

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
  • Must be able to meet physical demands of the position.
  • Must adhere to facility policies regarding masking during flu season if exemptions are approved.
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required.
  • If previously worked with the facility, performance evaluations may be required.

This position is ideal for ICU Registered Nurses with at least 2 years of recent ICU experience, who are flexible with floating between campuses and able to comply with detailed onboarding and compliance requirements.
