Job Description

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
• Shift: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)

  • Shifts may vary to meet hospital operational needs; rotation is possible.
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12's)
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate testing; passing scores required.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience (travel experience accepted).
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Certifications must be current; renew if expiring within 30 days of start.

Compliance & Testing

• Background checks required prior to start and must be updated annually.
• Fingerprinting (BCI and FBI) required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
• Pass/fail testing for ECG and medication dosing during orientation.
• Competency exams and unit-specific competency testing required annually.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titers with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted).

Documentation & Onboarding

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area.
• Two professional references required from recent employment (within 1 year), from supervisors or managers only.
• Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory; modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Candidates returning after a break longer than 6 months may need to repeat orientation and modules.

Additional Notes

• Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked.
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and annual requirements.
• Candidates with gaps in employment or returning to the facility should verify documentation and module completion requirements with the recruiter or clinical lead.
