Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Required Years of Experience:
- Minimum 3 years prior work history, including at least 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting and in a similar area to the pending assignment.
Prior Travel Experience:
- Not explicitly required.
Education & Licensure Requirements
- Graduate of an AMA or CoARC approved Respiratory Therapist program (Registry eligible).
- Valid Ohio Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license granted by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and obtain RRT within 120 days of employment start date.
Certifications & Compliance
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or AHA RQI accepted).
- Fit Test for approved N95 masks (3M 1870+, Medline Cone Small, 3M 1860 Reg & Small).
- COVID-19 vaccination strongly encouraged (medical or religious exemptions considered case-by-case).
- MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Varicella immunizations or titers required (no declinations accepted except for Influenza vaccine with approved exemptions).
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) testing required.
- Tdap vaccination within 10 years.
- Annual TB Questionnaire and, if applicable, Chest X-ray for positive PPD.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Criminal background check, OIG search, and EPLS screening within 90 days of start.
- Education verification and Social Security Card required.
Job Responsibilities
- Confirm physician orders, assess appropriateness, and ensure quality patient care.
- Notify healthcare team of any unusual patient reactions during treatment.
- Assess, evaluate, document, and monitor patient response to therapy.
- Explain treatment procedures and address patient concerns.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Perform respiratory/pulmonary procedures per protocol.
- Respond to emergencies and participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Set up and maintain respiratory equipment, administer medical gases and medications.
- Assist with stocking supplies and complete billing documentation.
- Participate in patient care teams and quality improvement programs.
- Provide education to patients, families, students, and healthcare professionals.
- Attend in-services, meetings, and conferences to maintain proficiency and stay current with new techniques and equipment.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to effectively interact with diverse patient populations with respect and dignity.
- Pre-employment physical exam confirming ability to perform essential job functions safely.
- Completion of unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists annually.
- Compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
