Job Description

• Provide total nursing care for patients, coordinating with ancillary nursing and patient team personnel.
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
• Participate in patient and family teaching.
• Provide leadership and maintain professional nursing standards in the clinical setting.
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
• Average daily patient census: 22.
• EMR system used: Cerner.
• Must be willing to float to any unit within scope of practice, including Acute Rehab and Med Surg.
• No block scheduling or schedule accommodations allowed.
• Requested time off must be submitted and approved at the time of application; no more than 5 days of time off allowed during assignment.
• Local travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible.
• Must have own vehicle due to lack of public transportation.
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation required.
• Call-back, holiday, and overtime multipliers apply.

Requirements

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical Nursing (Med Surg) with Rehab experience.
• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years recent Med Surg & Rehab experience.
• Charge Nurse Experience: Required.
• Prior Travel Experience: At least 3 months of previous travel experience required.
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications:

  • Vermont RN License or Compact RN License (must be current and uploaded).
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Skills Checklists for Medical Surgical and Supervisory roles (current within 1 year) required.

Additional Information

• This is a small community hospital with 35 beds, including 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
• The hospital is located in a rural area without public transportation; personal vehicle is mandatory.
• Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance.
• No block scheduling or schedule accommodations will be considered.
• 48-hour guarantee is not available for this assignment.

This is a 13-week temporary Registered Nurse position in a Med Surg/Telemetry unit requiring at least 2 years of recent Med Surg & Rehab experience, charge nurse experience, and prior travel experience of at least 3 months.
