Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Nights)

Location: Windsor, Vermont

Position Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse (RN) in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units
• Employment Type: Temporary contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 or 1:5
• Average daily patient census: 22
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse
• Must be willing to float to any unit within scope of practice, including Acute Rehab and Med Surg
• No block scheduling or schedule accommodations allowed
• Requested time off must be submitted and approved at time of application; no more than 5 days allowed
• Local travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible
• Must have own vehicle due to lack of public transportation

Required Qualifications

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years recent Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing experience
  • Charge RN experience required
  • Prior travel experience required: must have completed at least 3 months of previous travel nursing
• Licenses & Certifications:

  • Vermont RN License or Compact License (must be current and uploaded)
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS certification
• Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklists for Medical Surgical and Supervisory roles, current within 1 year, are required
• Must adhere to strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated
• Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance to unit supervisor
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation required

Work Environment

• Small community hospital with 35 beds, including 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit
• Facility uses Cerner EMR system
• Located in a rural area with no public transportation; personal vehicle is mandatory
• Hospital recognized for excellence in community service

• No schedule changes or time off requests will be approved after submission
• 48-hour guarantee is not available for this assignment
• Travelers who want to work alongside another permanent or travel assignment should not apply

This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg RNs with charge experience and prior travel nursing contracts who are flexible and able to work in a small community hospital setting.
