Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Akron, Ohio
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
- Experience: Minimum of 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel
- Licensure: Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or compact state license in hand
- Certifications:
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Compliance & Documentation
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks required prior to start and must be updated annually, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- SSN Trace
- National Sex Offender Registry
- Education verification
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (N95) required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months of start, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Pass/Fail EKG and medication competency testing during orientation (required for all bedside RNs except OR)
- Annual competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing as applicable
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing required
Additional Requirements
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history, including 2 years of clinical practice in an acute care setting similar to the assignment
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
Summary
This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position in Med/Surg Telemetry requiring a minimum of 18 months recent permanent experience in the specialty. The assignment is a day shift with 12-hour shifts, lasting approximately 13 weeks. Candidates must hold an Ohio or compact state nursing license, current BLS and ACLS certifications, and meet comprehensive health, background, and compliance requirements prior to starting. Completion of mandatory training modules and competency testing is required before beginning the assignment.
