Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour evening shifts (07:00 - 19:30), Friday through Sunday
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (MRI Tech)
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Weekend Requirement: Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • On-call: Yes, required as needed
  • Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
  • License: Must have an active Illinois license prior to start (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
  • Scrub Color: Any solid color scrubs
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Skills & Experience

MRI Skills/Experience Areas:

  • Abdomen and Pelvis: Abdomen, Abdominal MRA, Abdominal MRV, Female Pelvis, MRCP, Male Pelvis
  • Cardiovascular MRI: MR Angio Lower Extremity with Bilateral Runoff
  • Chest MRI: Chest
  • Head and Neck CT: Brain, Cranial Nerves, Face/soft tissue neck, Head MRA, Head MRV, Neck MRV, Orbits
  • Musculoskeletal MRI: Foot, Hand, Hip/Bony pelvis, Knee, Lower extremity long bones, Shoulder, Sternum, TMJ (with/without contrast), Upper extremity long bones
  • Special Imaging Procedures: CINE (CSF flow study), Diffusion (non-brain), Gradient Echo Imaging, MIP, Multiplanar reconstruction, Perfusion, Peripheral MRA (Iliac, runoff), Spin Echo Images, Surface Coils, T1 & T2 Weighted Images
  • Spine MRI: Cervical, Lumbar, Sacrum/coccyx, Spinal trauma, Thoracic, Thoracic MRA

Additional Requirements:

  • Cerner experience required
  • Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Must be physically present in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for fingerprinting compliance

Certifications & Compliance

  • Preferred Certification: ARRT-MR preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): Required (AHA or RQI acceptable)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Required based on unit/specialty
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Required based on unit/specialty
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification required
  • Competency Exam: Required for all clinical candidates
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start (cannot be done out of state)
  • Education verification required (official or unofficial transcripts accepted if pending)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually

  • Candidate must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • No floating outside scope of practice
  • Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
  • Badge photo required within one week of contract signing
  • Parking permit form must be completed within 7 days of contract signing
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical candidates
