Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med Surg)

Job Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
• Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM
• Schedule: Every 3rd weekend required
• Floating: May be required to float to different units
• Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital
• Limited Return to Office (RTO) preferred
• Start Date: March (flexible scheduling can be discussed during interview)

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical nursing
• First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required)
• Certifications required prior to start:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
• I-9 Attestation confirming work eligibility in the US
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal check (covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years)
  • SS Trace, Counties, Nationwide, Sex Offender checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• State-specific exclusion list checks for Kansas and Missouri
• Physical exam (initial and updated annually) confirming ability to meet physical demands
• Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine within past 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine required (declination NOT accepted)

Competencies & Training

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
• Unit competency exam required
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission training)
• Core training parts I, II, and III (annual proof of OSHA, HIPAA & Joint Commission training)

Licensing & Verification

• Valid state nursing license (compact license accepted with residency declaration form)
• Primary source verification of license required
• NURSYS verification as applicable

References & Evaluations

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
• Performance evaluation if worked with the agency over 1 year
• Annual skills checklist for applicable unit

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of Med Surg experience looking for a 13-week travel contract in a critical access hospital setting, with flexible scheduling and no prior travel experience required.
