Description

Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Work in the Special Delivery Unit (Labor and Delivery Level III or IV)
  • Must have experience in both scrub and circulating roles
  • Must work at least every other holiday

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery Level III or IV experience (travel experience accepted)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
  • Required certifications:
    • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation

Orientation & Testing

  • Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing completed onsite during orientation
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory
  • SafeMedicate preparation materials provided for exam preparation

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with boosters if needed
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually

Background & Documentation

  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check required prior to start, including FCRA-compliant 7-year search and education verification
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually (code 4723.09 for nursing)
  • Employment application must include 3 years of prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar specialty
  • Two professional references required from recent employment within one year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules on a computer using Google Chrome; modules cannot be completed on a phone
  • Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months since last Cleveland Clinic assignment may need to repeat orientation modules
  • Facility uses Qualivis – Lotus system for submitting hours worked

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with strong clinical skills in Level III or IV units, who hold the necessary Ohio licensure and certifications, and are comfortable working night shifts in a high-acuity setting.
