Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to a group of patients during a designated time frame. Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process, current nursing trends, technology, and resources to deliver quality patient care within institutional philosophy.

Essential Functions

  • Perform all unit-specific nursing duties within scope of service.
  • Implement procedures and theories related to the nursing specialty.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Conduct initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate care plans based on patient and family needs.
  • Implement and modify care plans through continuous evaluation.
  • Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting or correcting hazards and incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to resolve issues.
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
  • Identify personal learning needs and pursue solutions.
  • Fulfill all departmental competency requirements.

Department-Specific Functions

  • Float to various inpatient units including Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Orthopedic, Advanced Care, and ICUs (if applicable).
  • Complete Unit Nurse Leader Training as needed.
  • Provide direct nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for diverse patient populations.
  • Conduct and document assessments, nursing diagnoses, and patient care plans.
  • Precept staff from various units as needed.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members to ensure high-quality patient care.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience (specialty experience requirement).

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not specified / not required.

Education Requirements

  • Required: ASN (Associate of Science in Nursing)
  • Preferred: BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

Certifications & Licensure

  • Illinois State RN License in good standing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - American Heart Association

This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of nursing experience who are comfortable working across multiple inpatient units and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
