Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVOR)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: CVOR RN
- Shift: Combination of 2x8-hour and 2x12-hour shifts, typically between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM, including on-call hours
- Schedule: Flexible to meet unit needs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac, vascular, and transplant nursing
- At least 1 year of CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience
- At least 1 year experience in a Level I Trauma facility
Note: Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- EPIC charting system proficiency
Required Skills and Competencies
- General Operating Room skills
- Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Vascular, and Transplant nursing expertise
- Completion of Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams, including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must be current within 1 year and updated annually)
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions reviewed)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Background and Credentialing
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific requirements apply)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA, or CASN)
- State nursing license verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required for RNs
- Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
- Annual review and acknowledgment of Ethics and Compliance policies
- Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required
References and Documentation
- Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
- Employment application and skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service over 90 days
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, and other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (check unit-specific requirements)
This position is ideal for experienced CVOR RNs with strong cardiac, vascular, and transplant backgrounds who are flexible with shifts and able to work in a Level I Trauma environment.
