Description
Job Opportunity: CT Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: Newport News, Virginia
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 3 shifts per 12-hour shift, Friday through Sunday nights
- Locals allowed at the same rate
- Required Specialty Experience: 2 years (highest requirement found)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Required Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Current certification required; online CPR not accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for certain units; verify with program management if unclear
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification) may be required depending on unit assignment—confirm with management
- Competency exams including Medication Test/Pharmacology and other profession-specific competency exams must be completed within one year of start date
- Pass/Fail testing (e.g., EKG/Medication) will be administered during orientation
Background & Health Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually
- Fingerprinting via Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check (effective 7/15/2025)
- Drug screen within the last 12 months
- Physical exam within the last 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol; if positive, additional clearance required
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B) or approved exemptions
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (10/1–3/31) with strict deadlines for documentation and exemptions
- COVID vaccination series preferred
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Valid and current driver’s license required for Home Health & Hospice positions (not applicable here)
- I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance required
- Photo for badge must meet facility specifications
- Confidentiality agreement, dress code policy, scrub colors, safety brochure, drug-free policy, and hand washing hygiene policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- References: 2 professional references required
- Employment application/resume required
- Skills checklist must be updated annually
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be at least 21 years old (25 if transporting patients, not applicable here)
- Background checks must cover all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Facility may require additional unit-specific certifications or training—confirm with program management
This position offers a travel/contract opportunity in a hospital setting with a focus on radiology and cardiology imaging services. Candidates should be prepared to work weekend night shifts and meet all compliance and credentialing requirements as outlined.
