Job Opportunity: RN - OR (Operating Room)
Location: Los Alamos, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (Surgery)
- Number of Openings: 1
- Shift: See shift details (36 guaranteed weekly hours)
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend / as needed
- Call Requirements: As needed; approximately 10-11 days per month (may increase to 15-16 days if only two staff)
- Float Requirements: As needed, including Pre-Op coverage
Facility & Unit Information
- Facility Type: 47-bed acute care hospital
- Unit: Surgery Department (Floor 2779, Cost Center 701)
- Beds in Unit: 3 OR beds, 3 PACU beds, 5 Preop beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2
- Patient Population: All ages
- Electronic Health Records (EHR): CQI and Medhost
Requirements
- Licensure: Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license to practice in New Mexico
- Certifications Required at Submission:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- HWC (Healthcare Worker Certification)
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2+ years in OR nursing specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Preferred but not required
- Background Check: Fingerprinting and background check required by New Mexico state before hire; 14-day supervised waiver possible while awaiting results
Work Environment & Culture
- Dress Code: Hospital-provided scrubs; casual wear and open-toed shoes are not allowed
- Personality Fit: Professional demeanor expected
- Orientation: Weekly on Mondays
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
- The facility is a major healthcare provider in Northern New Mexico with approximately 300 healthcare employees
