Travel RN - ICU (Critical Care)

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Job Description

Critical Care Registered Nurses provide care for patients with severe medical issues such as heart attack, stroke, shock, severe trauma, and respiratory distress. Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing patient conditions and implementing care plans
  • Treating wounds and providing advanced life support
  • Assisting physicians with procedures
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs
  • Managing ventilators, monitors, and other medical equipment (including adjusting ventilator/IABP)
  • Administering IV fluids and medications
  • Suctioning
  • Collaborating with the critical care team
  • Responding to life-saving situations using nursing standards and protocols
  • Acting as patient advocate
  • Educating and supporting patient families
  • Caring for pre- and post-operative patients
  • Floating to LTAC units as needed based on facility census

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or multi-state RN license
  • Minimum 1 year of critical care nursing experience
  • Ventilator and tracheostomy experience required
  • ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association)

Additional Information

  • Contract length: 12 weeks
  • Candidates must be willing to float to LTAC units depending on census
