Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist
Location: New York, NY
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Job Summary
Operate and prepare specialized MRI equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. Apply technical judgment to obtain diagnostic-quality studies according to protocols and patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MRI imaging procedures and position patients/coils for optimal imaging.
- Provide patient education about the procedure and instructions.
- Review patient safety questionnaires before MRI scans.
- Label MRI images according to department standards.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure timely transmission to PACS.
- Complete studies in Radiology Information System (IDX) promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness of radiology room and equipment.
- Manage supplies and accessories needed for safe operation.
- Record patient tracking information accurately in IDX.
- Schedule exams in IDX as required.
- Report equipment repairs or unsafe conditions.
- Assist physicians directly as needed.
- Call for in-patients as required.
- Perform clerical duties when support personnel are absent.
- Adhere strictly to safety guidelines to prevent ferromagnetic material introduction.
- Follow infection control policies to protect self, patients, and staff.
- Attend in-services and professional development meetings.
- Maintain licensure in good standing per Public Health Code.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of an AMA/J.C.E.R.T. approved Radiologic Technology program.
Experience
- Strong background in cross-sectional anatomy, physical sciences, and MR physics.
- Excellent technical skills and knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Minimum 2 years of MRI experience required.
Certifications & Licensure
- NY State License in Diagnostic Radiology.
- ARRT MRI Registry certification.
- BCLS Certification.
