Travel Registered Nurse (ICU) - Cleveland, Ohio

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
  • Location: Cleveland, Ohio
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7pm-7am)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 18 months recent Critical Care/ICU experience
  • Must have 18 months of permanent ICU experience prior to travel

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Permanent Ohio RN license or Compact State license in hand
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
  • Other certifications (preferred or required depending on unit): PALS, NRP, TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • State License Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start

Job Responsibilities

  • Float to all 3 ICUs and Emergency Departments for patient holds

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months and updated annually
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; candidates can start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
  • Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months and updated annually
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
    • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required onsite during orientation for bedside RNs (except OR)
  • Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement and medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable

References & Employment History

  • Two recent references required from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director within the specialty area (charge RN references accepted)
  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete all required online onboarding modules prior to clearance to start; modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome
  • Candidates may be required to re-complete modules if there is a gap greater than 6 months between Cleveland Clinic assignments
  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times on assignment
  • Fingerprinting results and background checks must be current and compliant with facility requirements

This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses with strong critical care backgrounds and valid Ohio or compact state licenses, seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity hospital setting.
