Description
Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Pratt, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM)
Schedule: Weekdays with some weekends
Job Description
- Work in Medical Surgical unit covering med surg, orthopedic, and general surgery patients
- Experience with orthopedic cases, especially total hips and knees, is a plus
- Rural health experience is a plus
- Must be able to easily adapt and jump into the role
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Skills required: IV start, telemetry monitoring
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license (Kansas state or compact license)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in the specialty (Medical Surgical)
- Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers are welcome)
Additional Requirements
- Proof of valid government-issued photo ID
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal criminal check
- Drug screening (9 or 10 panel) within the last 12 months
- Physical exam within 12 months confirming ability to meet physical demands and clearance to work
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Tdap vaccine
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (mandatory unless medically exempt)
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted (no longer mandatory)
- Completion of facility-specific training and competency exams prior to start
- Proof of 2 professional clinical references
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Orthopedic experience with total hips and knees
- Rural healthcare experience
- Charge nurse experience
- Telemetry monitoring skills

- Various competency exams and certifications may be required depending on unit assignment
