Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Med Surg)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 hour day shifts (06:45 AM - 07:15 PM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend; scheduling accommodates requested time off with makeup weekends as needed
  • Float: Will float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Patient Ratio: Must be willing to take up to a 1:7 ratio if needed (not common)
  • Patient Population: Must be willing to care for trach and laryngectomy patients (experience not required but willingness to learn is mandatory)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical Surgical)
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Local Candidates: Accepted, no radius restrictions
  • On-call: Not required
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated

Required Qualifications

  • Active Illinois RN license in hand
  • BLS certification required (AHA or RQI acceptable)
  • PICC line management and IV start experience required
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Willingness to care for trach and laryngectomy patients
  • Must meet all facility and state background checks and verifications

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches within 30 days of start
  • Education verification (degree)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Competency exam and skills checklist required
  • Photo for badge within 1 week of signing contract
  • References: 2 professional references required

Notes

  • Only one winter holiday off can be requested and is subject to manager approval
  • Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation
  • Fingerprints must be completed in Illinois for clinical candidates without an IL license
  • Candidates must comply with all state-specific registry and offender searches as required

This position is ideal for a Medical Surgical RN with at least 2 years of experience who is flexible with weekend work and patient assignments, and who holds an active Illinois RN license. Prior travel experience is not required.
