Job Opportunity: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II

Location: Grand Blanc, Michigan

Job Description

  • Assist with orientation and training of Cath Lab staff.
  • Participate in special projects and relevant committees.
  • Demonstrate understanding of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology.
  • Recognize and interpret ECG waveforms, lethal arrhythmias, and ECG changes related to heart conditions.
  • Understand cardiac medications, their pharmacokinetics, indications, and dosages.
  • Monitor diagnostic cardiac catheter procedures and intervene during lethal arrhythmias using ACLS standards.
  • Identify coronary anatomy in cine angiographic projections and cardiac pressure waveforms.
  • Calculate hemodynamic parameters and record catheterization events.
  • Prepare supplies and set up for diagnostic cardiac catheterization.
  • Perform cardiac outputs, O2 saturations, and ACT measurements.
  • Monitor percutaneous interventions and differentiate between various atherectomy procedures.
  • Understand extraction devices and thrombolytic therapy indications and complications.
  • Explain benefits of intravascular ultrasound and Doppler velocimetry.
  • Describe indications for electrophysiologic testing, pacemaker implants, ablation, and defibrillators.
  • Operate Cath Lab fluoroscopy system components to assist physicians during procedures.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Sciences program (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, Cardiac or Vascular Sonography, or equivalent).
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) OR Radiology Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI) certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six months of hire.

  • Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities including communication, ownership, motivation, teamwork, respect, and sensitivity.
  • Must be self-directed, flexible, committed to teamwork, open to learning, and respectful of diversity.
  • Physical demands include the ability to scrub in a sterile environment for extended periods, wear lead aprons weighing up to 5 lbs., and assist with lifting and moving patients and equipment with team support.
