Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Weston, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: Registered Nurse in Operating Room
  • Shift: 1100-2330 with liver call; may assist with other cases if no liver/transplant cases available
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrub Color: Ceil Blue
  • Parking: Free in unrestricted spaces

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of direct Liver/Transplant OR RN experience (higher value from description)
  • Strong experience with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures (must be reflected on skills checklist)
  • Proficient in Misonix/CUSA equipment
  • Experience with organ implantation (not just harvesting) is mandatory
  • First-time travelers accepted

Certifications & Licenses

  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required at time of submission
  • NIH Stroke Certification must be obtained prior to start
  • Florida RN license accepted, pending licenses allowed
  • Primary source verification of state license required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Schedule & On-Call Requirements

  • On-call: 1 shift per week plus two 12-hour weekend shifts per month
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12 shifts or 40 hours for 8/10 shifts
  • No block scheduling accommodation
  • Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is expected
  • Locals accepted at same rate

Special Requirements & Facility Policies

  • Time-sensitive online training modules must be completed prior to start; no delays allowed
  • Smoke-free facility: all travelers must be nicotine-free (negative 10 panel drug screen plus nicotine test required)
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with application
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start required
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required, updated annually
  • Required immunizations/vaccinations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season unless approved medical/religious exemption
  • COVID vaccination series or approved exemption required
  • Negative 10 panel drug screen within 1 year of start required (no Florida Medical Marijuana card accepted)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required and must be current
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (no fingerprints pending)
  • Two professional references within 2 years required
  • Pass/fail testing (EKG/Pharmacology) administered during orientation

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for a teaching hospital environment with transplant specialty focus
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a high-acuity setting
  • Facility issues radiation badges to applicable staff
