Description
Job Opportunity: CT Tech - Rad CT
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform computerized axial tomography (CT) procedures and assigned invasive procedures according to department protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Independently perform multiplanar reformats and 3D rendered images.
- Review cases with radiologists as appropriate.
- Review labs and patient history to ensure correct exam performance.
- Administer IV contrast, oral, and rectal contrast when appropriate; recognize and respond to adverse or allergic reactions.
- Screen patients for pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
- Ensure safety of patients, visitors, and environment; report safety events immediately, including near misses.
- Assist in instruction of students and new staff as needed.
- May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
- Meet productivity levels as established by department benchmarks.
- Assist other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
- May perform duties in other modalities within the department if licensed/certified.
- Maintain imaging equipment and workplace environment, including supply inventories and orderliness.
- Recognize and report equipment malfunctions and service needs promptly.
- Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy; verify patient history and clinical data for medical necessity.
- Transfer and verify image data in PACS; provide necessary medical history for radiologist interpretation.
- Utilize web server/EA viewer and email system to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate's Degree in a related field or Certificate in Radiologic Technology
Certifications & Licensure
- IEMA Radiography License (Illinois)
- Radiography (R)(ARRT) OR Nuclear Medicine Tech Certification (NMTCB)
- Computed Tomography (CT)(ARRT)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
Experience
- Demonstrated technical expertise in radiology.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks while coordinating patient flow and technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative.
- Positive attitude and willingness to assess and improve the work environment.
