Job Opportunity: 10E General Surgical Floor RN

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
• Coordinate care across all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• Follow Standard Precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oklahoma
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
• Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
• Exams:

  • Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
  • Medical Surgical Exam (minimum 80%, updated every 3 years)
• Health Requirements:

  • MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Fit Test: Required for all travelers, preferred before start
  • TB Testing: 2-step PPD or IGRA with annual TB questionnaire; if positive, chest X-ray required
  • Health Statement: Statement of good health or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
  • 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
• Background Checks and Verifications:

  • Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender, and others within 30 days of assignment start
  • Employment verification for past 7 years
  • Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start
• Additional Requirements:

  • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years
  • Ascension Skills Checklist for specialty, updated annually
  • Cerner Test-Out and Training Checklist with signed attestation prior to start
  • Driver’s License/State ID valid and matching address requirements

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: RN Medical/Surgical
• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required

• Onboarding includes completion of multiple Ascension-specific modules and attestations.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment with minimal supervision.
• Personal protective equipment and infection control protocols must be strictly followed.
