Job Opportunity: Trauma Neuro ICU - Nights (RN Neuro/Trauma ICU)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 7 PM to 7 AM (Night shift)
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Schedule: Every other weekend, holiday/hard-to-fill shifts TBD
- Patient Ratio: 2:1
- Facility Type: Level 1 Trauma Center, Stroke Center for Excellence, Transplant Center
- EHR System: Sunrise (SCM)
- Dress Code: Royal blue scrubs
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience (Neuro/Trauma ICU preferred)
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Current RN license in Indiana (Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start)
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- Completion of specialty and pharmacology exams with minimum 80% score (Ascension Specialty and Pharmacology Exams)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
- Completion of Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics) with minimum 80% score
- Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% score
- Fit Test (preferred prior to start, can be completed onsite)
- Documentation of immunizations and health requirements:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31; exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
- 2 Step PPD or IGRA testing with annual TB questionnaire
- Positive PPD requires negative chest X-ray within 1 year and TB questionnaire
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Professional references (at least two)
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start
- Employment and education verifications within 90 days prior to start
- Driver’s License or State ID (valid, matching address requirements)
- Ascension-specific onboarding requirements and attestations, including nursing contract worker onboarding and education attestation
- Ascension Badge Photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background)
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- Specialty years of experience required: 2 years ICU experience (defaulted to higher value found).
- This is a night shift position in a high-acuity trauma/neuro ICU setting with 2:1 patient ratios.
- The role requires compliance with multiple Ascension-specific exams and onboarding processes to demonstrate competency and meet facility standards.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with neuro/trauma background seeking a long-term night shift assignment in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
