Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
  • Shift rotation may be required to meet hospital operational needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam; passing scores required.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty (Med/Surg Telemetry) prior to travel assignments.
  • Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience (travel experience counts).

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Must have a permanent Ohio RN license or a compact state license in hand.
  • Current AHA or American Red Cross certifications in:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not explicitly required.

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required.
  • Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) must be completed and updated annually. Fingerprinting must be done within 48 hours of contract signing and results must be current within 12 months.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
  • Fit mask test (3M N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of Cleveland Clinic online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
  • SafeMedicate prep materials provided for medication exam during orientation.
  • Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation with minimum passing scores (SafeMedicate 90%, ECG 80%). Retakes allowed with remediation.

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 professional references from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area.
  • Skills checklist required annually.

Notes

  • Candidates with gaps in employment or returning to Cleveland Clinic may have specific requirements regarding orientation and module completion.
  • Candidates must carry all required documentation and certifications while on assignment.
  • Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed.
