Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER)
Location: Lansing, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room at a Level 1 Trauma Center with specialized units including Stroke Center, Heart Center, and Pediatric Emergency Department.

Work Schedule
- Weekend shifts required: 3 weekends (Friday-Sunday) per 4-week schedule
- On-call: No
Required Certifications
- State Nursing License (Michigan)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BCLS (Basic Life Support) by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or ATCN as substitute
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification
Required Experience & Skills
- Level I trauma experience required
- Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- EPIC charting experience
Preferred Experience
- Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation administration
- Triage experience
- Unit accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)
Patient Ratios & Unit Info
- High patient-to-nurse ratios: typically 1:5-6, can be up to 1:8 during busy times or holidays
Additional Requirements
- Must agree to work 3 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Modules related to orientation are not billable; plan for approximately 5 hours of unpaid module time
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and criminal history
- Drug screening (10-panel with THC) within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months, noting latex sensitivity
- Immunizations and titers required: Tdap, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, plus annual TB questionnaire
- OSHA respirator fit testing form to be completed prior to start
- References: 2 from previous employers
- Resume with 7-year work history and skills checklist required
Notes
- No prior travel experience required for this position
- Floating to pediatric patients may be required
- High acuity environment with trauma and stroke patients
- Must submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at time of submittal; no changes allowed later
This position is ideal for ER nurses with solid trauma experience looking for a travel contract in a high-acuity Level 1 Trauma Center setting.
