Job Description
- Acute care physical therapist position at a community hospital
- Work schedule: Monday through Friday
- Local candidates allowed at the same rate
- Must have acute care hospital experience
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation (Physical Therapy)

- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting required for certain units (Pediatrics, NICU, Psych) with specific procedures and timelines
- NURSYS verification required for RNs
- Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search and submission required for applicable candidates (mostly pediatric and behavioral health units)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Medical fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (PAPR or Pro Gear required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers required; boosters if low titers
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
- Drug testing within 30-60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required for 2025-26 season
- Latex questionnaire required prior to start
Orientation & Competency Requirements
- Pharmacology exam, point of care testing, and airborne precaution mask fitting given at orientation (not pass/fail)
- Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) for RNs and LPNs in certain units
- Completion of assigned learning modules during orientation week (~6 hours)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs and LVNs/LPNs (not required for RN Case Managers)
- Color blind testing required
- Abuse reporting competency required (covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect/exploitation)
- Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
References & Documentation
- Two professional references required
- Complete application/resume required
- Performance evaluations not required prior to start; completed at end of assignment
