Description
Job Opportunity: SICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (SICU)
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-timers: Not accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope to other units, primarily other ICUs
- Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
- Guaranteed Hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts

Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA (RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA (RQI acceptable)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Required Licensure
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand
Required Qualifications & Documents
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification (degree verification required)
- NURSYS verification for RN license
- Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate provider, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or proof of immunity (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella) or signed declinations
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Photo for badge (color, plain background)
- Code of Conduct signed within 7 days of contract signing
- Parking permit form signed within 7 days of contract signing
Additional Requirements
- References: 2 professional references required
- Skills checklist required for clinical candidates
- Illinois-specific state searches and registry checks required within 30 days of start
- Fingerprints must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start (for clinical candidates without IL license)
Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to work night shifts and float as needed within ICU units.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position.
This position is ideal for experienced SICU RNs licensed in Illinois seeking a travel contract in a Level I trauma, Magnet recognized acute care hospital.
