Description
Job Opportunity: SICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (SICU)
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (1845-0715)
- Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope to other units, primarily other ICUs
- Schedule Flexibility: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
- Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
- Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty required
- First-timers: Not accepted (prior experience required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Licensure: Must have an active Illinois RN license in hand to apply
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA (RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA (RQI acceptable)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid/current US Driver’s License or US ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years (including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification (degree verification required)
- Fingerprinting via Illinois Health Care Worker Registry (must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start)
- NURSYS Verification for RN license
- Competency exam required for clinical candidates
- Badge photo (color, mid-shoulders up, plain background) within 1 week of signing
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate provider, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
- Fit mask test (3M1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+) required for new contracts
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or proof of immunity (or signed declination) for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by 11/30
- Professional references: 2 required
- Skills checklist required for clinical candidates
- State-specific criminal and offender registry searches required within 30 days of start (Illinois Most Wanted, Department of Corrections, State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry)
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: Any solid color
- Guaranteed hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts
- Facility accommodates latex allergies
This position is ideal for experienced SICU RNs with at least 1 year of critical care experience, who hold an active Illinois RN license and current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications, and are comfortable working night shifts and floating within ICU units.
