Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Somerville, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Required Experience:
- 2 years Acute Care experience required
- If candidate has GE MRI experience, 1.5 years MRI experience is acceptable
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Work Hours: 40 hours per week
- On Call:
- 1x 8.5-hour day per week
- 1x 24-hour weekend every 5 weeks (details discussed during interview)
- Patient Population: In-patient, Outpatient, and Emergency Room patients
- Scope of Work: Must be able to perform full spectrum of MRI studies
- Cardiac MRI: Not performed on site
- Equipment: GE preferred
- Charting System: EPIC
- Dress Code: Black scrubs
Certifications & Licenses Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists): Preferred
- ARMRIT: Acceptable if candidate sat for ARRT and holds ARRT(R)(MR)
- Additional Certifications:
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, and others may be required depending on assignment and unit (confirm specifics with program coordinator)
- State License: Must be current and verified
- Other: Must meet all facility-specific credentialing and compliance requirements
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific exclusions list checks required
- Health Documents:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions
- Drug screening within 30 days of start
- Immunizations and titers (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps) with lab documentation required
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Fit Testing: Required on-site for respirator use and certain job tasks
- Other Health Screenings: Color blindness test, latex allergy questionnaire, and respiratory medical clearance as applicable
- Competency Exams: Medication test, dysrhythmia/EKG competency, and pass/fail testing required within specified timeframes
- References: Two references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
- Work History: Minimum 7 years documented work history with verification, including 1 year prior to start verified for New Jersey candidates
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position.
- On-call schedule includes both weekday and weekend coverage.
- GE MRI experience is preferred but not mandatory if other acute care MRI experience is sufficient.
- Candidates must be able to perform a full range of MRI studies except cardiac MRI.
- Black scrubs are required attire.

Generally speaking, Host Healthcare doesn't always have the highest rate on the market. Having gone with competing agencies in the past, I have often been disappointed and unsupported and ultimately found it wasn't worth the small pay bump
