Description
Respiratory Therapist (RRT - Adult)
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide assessment, therapeutic intervention, and education for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders or related complications. Responsibilities include monitoring and managing disease, performing therapeutic interventions, patient education, and equipment assessment to optimize respiratory care.
Unit/Department Details
- Large facility with 350+ beds
- Units include: 40 bed IV NICU, 8 bed Pediatric ICU, 24 beds Pediatric, 36 beds Adult ICU, 28 beds Intermediate Adult ICU, 110 beds Adult General Floor, 47 beds Emergency Room
- Use of Epic computerized charting and advanced respiratory equipment (e.g., Hamilton G5 & C1 ventilators, V60, Airvo, CoughAssist, Vest, IPV AutoPAP, Radiometer ABL90, Aerogen, Trilogy/Astrel, Nitric Oxide, HFOV, Bunnell HFJV, Infant Flow SiPAP, Radiometer TCM)
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC
- North Dakota state license or willingness to apply within 72 hours of offer acceptance
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- ACLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) preferred
- Minimum 2 years recent respiratory therapy experience
- Level 1 trauma and ICU experience required
- Strong background working with Emergency Room patients
- Experience working in a facility with 300+ beds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required (highest stated requirement)
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Schedule & Work Environment
- Rotating shifts including every other weekend and holidays
- 8 and 12-hour shifts available
- Opportunity to pick up extra shifts
- Floating to other units or locations within Fargo as needed
- Weekend status day position options (36 or 48 hours) with 12-hour shifts (e.g., 7a-7p)
- Possible Friday night to Sunday rotations with varied hours
Orientation & Training
- Lab orientation with RT education staff
- Preceptor shifts with unit RTs
Additional Information
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills essential for collaboration with healthcare team
- Must badge in and out at the facility
