Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Med Surg RN - Urology/Nephrology)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Urology/Nephrology)
Shift: 4x12 or 3x12 Night shifts (1845-0715)
Unit: 25 bed unit, average daily census 23
Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
Floating: Will float within scope to other Medical Surgical units as needed
Block Scheduling: May try to accommodate but not guaranteed
Local Candidates: Accepted with no radius restrictions
On-call: Not required

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in medical/surgical nursing
First-time travelers accepted if they have a solid RN foundation and >2 years medical/surgical experience
No explicit prior travel experience required

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience, including experience within the last year
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
Experience with Telemetry remote monitoring
Central line blood draw experience
PICC line management experience
Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
CPAP/BiPAP experience
High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) experience
Experience with Cerner charting system

Additional Requirements

Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches within 30 days of start
Drug screening (9 panel) within 30 days of start
Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
Immunizations or proof of immunity required for: TB, MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
Competency exam and skills checklist required for clinical candidates
Photo for badge required before start
References: 2 professional references required

Notes

RTO (Return to Office) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
Guaranteed hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay; on-call shifts count as called-off shifts
Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for candidates without an IL license

This position is ideal for experienced Med Surg RNs with strong clinical skills in Urology/Nephrology who are comfortable working night shifts and floating within medical surgical units. The facility uses Cerner for charting and is a Level I trauma center with Magnet recognition.
