Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Operating Room (OR RN)
- Shift: Four 10-hour shifts per week (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- On-Call: Yes, 2-star call until 11 PM per week and every 3rd to 4th weekend call
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd to 4th weekend
- Number of ORs: 12
- Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years in acute care operating room setting
- Must be well-rounded with strong skills in general, neuro, ortho, ENT, and GYN surgeries
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted if they have broad specialty competency
- Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC only
- Radiation Badge required (must be provided by agency; facility does NOT provide)
- Trauma Level: Facility is a Level 3 trauma center
Schedule & Work Conditions
- Block Scheduling: Possible with manager approval, dependent on unit needs
- Local Radius: 60-mile radius rule applies
- Local Travelers: Not accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks; called off hours can be combined to equal 1 shift

Required Documentation & Compliance
- Work Eligibility: Completed and accurate I-9 form and E-Verify attestation required
- Identification: Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card required
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, statewide, sex offender registry, national criminal, FACIS 3, and international searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Not required for this facility; diploma/transcripts preferred but not mandatory
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance Evaluation: Must be dated within 12 months of start
- Employment History: Last 3 clinical employers verified (not required for this facility)
Certifications & Training Requirements
- ACLS: AHA or ARC only (check specific unit requirements)
- PALS: As required, AHA or ARC only
- NRP: Must be through AHA/AAP with full eCard and QR code
- TNCC: As required (check unit-specific job descriptions)
- EFM: AWHONN or NCC acceptable
- IV Certification: Required for select LPNs if applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification: As required
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology and general competency exams required as applicable
- Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and safety manual acknowledgments required prior to start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Vaccinations:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
- COVID vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; low titers require boosters
- TB Testing:
- Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold within 90 days of contract start (T-spot not permitted)
- If positive, chest X-ray proof required
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use (RespSafety questionnaire)
Additional Requirements
- Radiation Badge: Required for OR staff; candidates cannot start without it. Badge process may take 5-7 days.
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background required
- Facility-Specific Documents: Includes signed assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, HR policy manual, system user agreement, user access request, job description, and HIPAA confidentiality agreement
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed before orientation; estimated 4 hours for this location
- Religious Exemption: Facility-specific COVID exemption form required if requesting religious exemption
