Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical (Cardiac Stepdown Unit)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Job Description
This is a travel RN position on a busy, Magnet-certified Cardiac Stepdown unit at a large academic medical center. The role involves providing nursing care in a cardiac stepdown setting, requiring strong clinical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Valid, permanent RN license for Ohio (temporary licenses not accepted).
- Primary source verification of license required within 30 days of start and updated upon expiration.
Experience
- Specialty: RN Medical/Surgical (Cardiac Stepdown)
- Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN Medical/Surgical experience required.
Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association only) required.
Health and Immunizations

- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start, confirming ability to work without restrictions.
Background and Compliance
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including social security trace and national sex offender search.
- Ohio fingerprinting and FBI background checks required depending on residency duration in Ohio.
- Employment verification for the last 5 years through third-party verification.
- Education verification through third-party.
- Completion of safety and compliance training modules prior to clearance; renewal annually.
- Drug screen within 60 days prior to start; 10-panel urine drug screen required (instant screens not accepted).
- I-9 attestation confirming eligibility to work in the U.S.
Skills and Competency
- Completion of clinical skills checklist within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement).
- Competency exam with at least 80% score within 1 year prior to start (one-time requirement).
