Description
Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) – 5C/D CVICU/IMC
Location: Fargo, North Dakota
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 12-hour shifts, every other weekend and holiday
Unit: 32-bed critical care unit (CVICU/IMC)
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
Job Description
- Manage 1-3 critically ill patients including neuro, cardiac, CT surgery, trauma, medical, and surgical populations.
- Care for patients requiring vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics, inotropics, antiarrhythmics, and other titratable drips.
- Assist with bedside procedures such as RSI, EVD placement, tracheostomy, line placement, and diagnostic tests.
- Float to other critical care units including Intermediate ICU (ratios up to 4:1), Broadway ICU (ratios up to 3:1), and med-surg units as needed.
- Use equipment including EPIC EMR, Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinet, Aleris IV pumps, MOOG feeding pumps, IABP, EVD, Phillips patient monitoring systems, AvaSure patient monitoring, and Impella.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience in a hospital with 200+ beds and Level 1 trauma designation.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- RN license in North Dakota or compact state
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NIHSS certification
- Skills:
- Experience titrating vasopressor drips (must be documented on resume or skills checklist)
- EPIC EMR experience
Schedule Details
- 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and holiday off.
- Shift rotation varies; may work 3 weeks days then 3 weeks nights or all days/nights depending on unit needs.
- Self-scheduling allowed but days off guaranteed only as per contract; shift trades encouraged to maintain unit balance.
- Efforts made to minimize frequent day/night shift changes.
Orientation & Training
- Total of 32 hours orientation during the first week:
- 8 hours hospital orientation
- 8 hours 5CD unit orientation
- 4 hours Intermediate ICU orientation
- 12 hours Broadway ICU orientation
Additional Information
- Dress code: Navy scrubs
- Candidates must not live within 60 miles of the facility (local travel restrictions apply).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
This position is ideal for experienced ICU nurses comfortable managing complex critical care patients in a fast-paced, Level 1 trauma hospital environment.
