Job Opportunity: Pediatric CVICU Registered Nurse (RN PICU)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a new and specialized Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) caring for cardiac patients pre- and post-operation.
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate surgical cases.
- Expected availability: 36 hours per week, every other weekend, holidays, and willingness to be on call.
- May be floated to PICU, Pediatrics, and NICU units as needed.
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Current RN license valid in Indiana (Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start).
Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics
- NRP Advanced (AHA/American Academy of Pediatrics)
- NIH Certification (updated yearly or every 2 years depending on group)
Exams and Testing
- Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- Specialty Exam in area of specialization (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- EKG Exam (minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc., minimum 80% score, updated every 3 years)
- Safe Sleep Training
- Skills Checklist (completed within one year of start, updated annually)
- 12 Panel Drug Screen (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
Health and Immunizations
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza Vaccine: Required during flu season; exemptions accepted with mask requirement
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or two doses of vaccine; no declinations accepted
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted
- TB Screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within one year, and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit Test: Required annually (preferred prior to start)
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
Professional Requirements
- Resume/Profile submission
- At least two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal Background Check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (within 30 days prior to start, updated annually)
- EPLS (Exclusionary Provider List System) check within 90 days prior to start, rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Education Verification within 90 days prior to start
- Employment Verification for past seven years, updated annually
- Confirmation of Assignment documentation
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and valid)
- Badge Photo (white or blue background, no alterations)
