Description
Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist (Surg Tech 1 UP - OR(A))
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Maintain a sterile environment by applying principles of asepsis.
- Demonstrate competency in technical and psychomotor skills, judgment, and knowledge base.
- Provide age-specific care to obstetrical patients following department policies.
- Assist in organizing and coordinating supplies and equipment for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, co-workers, and self.
- Adhere to safety and legal requirements at hospital and unit levels.
- Charge for equipment and supplies.
- Participate in room turnover and setup.
- Maintain and clean equipment; identify items needing repair.
- Perform sterilization, disinfection, and document loads per policy.
- Assist with obtaining supplies, equipment, positioning devices, and patient positioning for procedures.
- Perform scrubbing duties, including teaching classes for Medical Students, Residents, and other students.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients.
Education
- Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology
OR - Certificate of completion of Surgical Technology program
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid Surgical Technologist license in Illinois.
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association.

- No prior travel experience required.
