Job Opportunity: RN Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU-Peds) - Travel Position

Location: Austin, Texas

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU experience for a travel assignment. The role involves caring for critically ill pediatric patients in a Cardiovascular ICU setting with varying nurse-to-patient ratios depending on patient acuity.


Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Experience

  • Minimum 18 months of Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU experience

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

  • ICU status: 1:1 or 1:2
  • Stepdown/non-ICU overflow unit: 1:3

Required Certifications

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • PALS
  • ACLS (Preferred but required for onboarding)

Required Licensure

  • Current RN license in Texas with Nursys verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Primary source verification required

Additional Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Completion of specialty competency exams and assessments prior to assignment and updated every 3 years, including:
    • Ascension Specialty Exam
    • Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.)
    • Ascension EKG Exam
    • Ascension Cerner Test-Out
    • Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical specialty skills)
  • Color Vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years
  • Health and immunization requirements including:
    • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer, no declinations)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination (no declinations)
    • Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations)
    • TB screening (PPD or IGRA with negative chest X-ray and annual questionnaire)
    • Fit Test for respiratory protection (updated annually)
  • Drug screening: 12-panel urine drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Criminal background checks and verifications including:
    • Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
    • EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days prior to start
  • Verification of education and employment history relevant to clinical work
  • Documentation of good health or physical exam prior to first assignment and updated annually
  • Driver’s license or state ID valid and matching address requirements
