Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Location: Rock Springs, Wyoming
Employment Type: Traveler - Backfill
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide RN care for labor and delivery unit including:
- Antepartum care
- Vaginal delivery
- Cesarean section delivery
- Immediate delivery care
- Receiving newborns in delivery room and providing Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) resuscitation as needed
- Care for postpartum mothers and newborns on mother-baby unit
- Care for well newborns and special care nursery babies, including:
- Initial stabilization after delivery
- Medication administration
- Breastfeeding assistance
- CPAP support
- Peripheral IV access and maintenance
- IV fluids and antibiotics
- Management of hyperbilirubinemia and hypoglycemia
- Stabilization for transport to tertiary care center
- Use of equipment such as computerized charting, Pyxis medication system, central electronic fetal monitoring, and Alaris IV smart pumps
- May float occasionally to medical floor or emergency room to assist with basic tasks (no patient load)
Schedule
- Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM
- Self-scheduling with other staff
- Coverage includes 2 weekends per month and 2 holidays if working over holiday periods
- No current on-call requirements (may change based on department needs)
Unit Details
- 3 Labor, Delivery, Recovery (LDR) rooms
- 5 postpartum rooms
- 4 triage rooms
- Includes recovering area and OR suite
- Nurse-to-patient ratio follows AWHONN guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and special care nursery
- Wyoming RN state license or compact nursing license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Intermediate AWHONN certification
Orientation and Training
- Two-day orientation covering EMR system, workflow processes, and supplies
Dress Code
- Scrubs provided
- No visible tattoos
- Body jewelry must be removed during working hours except for studs in earlobes
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
- Floating to other units is occasional and limited to assisting with basic tasks only
