Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7 AM - 7:30 PM), holidays as needed
- Orientation: First week may include weekday day shifts for orientation before regular schedule begins
- On-call: Required, approximately 3-4 days per month
- Floating: May float within the same campus buildings; no floating to sister facilities
- Daily Caseload: Varies
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technologist license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- Experience with O/C-Arm
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- X-Ray Technician experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering last 7 years of residence/employment
- Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- Licensure Verification: Primary source verification of active, unencumbered SC license required
- Work History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
- Radiation Badge: Must be obtained prior to starting patient care; process may take 5-7 days
- Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
- Competency Exams: Required as applicable (medication/pharmacology, OR competency if applicable)
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to orientation (approx. 2 hours)
- COVID-19: Vaccination not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Required within 10 years or declination form
- TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days; annual TB questionnaire required
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters may be needed for low titers
- Hepatitis B: Proof of immunity or vaccination series or declination required
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates accepted at reduced rate
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Travelers assigned to emergency response teams (Storm Teams) and must be available during hurricane season
- Agency must supply radiation badge and provide monthly or quarterly radiation exposure reports
This position is ideal for X-Ray Technologists with at least 1 year of experience, including O/C-Arm proficiency, who are comfortable working rotating weekend shifts and participating in on-call rotations. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Compliance with extensive background, health, and certification requirements is essential.
