Job Opportunity: Surgical Technologist

Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
Employment Type: Traveler - Backfill
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work under the Perioperative leader to ensure quality care within the Perioperative environment.
• Anticipate, plan for, and respond to the needs of patients, surgeons, and team members during surgical procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient, family, coworker, and physician information.
• Utilize equipment including computerized charting and medication systems.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical technology, with at least 2 years of CVOR experience preferred.
• Prior travel experience preferred (2+ years travel experience preferred).
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required (TS-C or grandfathered certifications NOT accepted).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only).

Schedule & Work Environment

• 36-40 hours per week, evening/night shifts of 8-12 hours.
• Work every other weekend.
• Call required: weekday/night call approximately once every 7-10 days; full weekend call every 5-6 weeks.
• Floating to other units including General Surgery, Orthopedics, and Cardiovascular OR (CVOR).
• Surgery scrubs provided.

Orientation

• Mandatory 7-day orientation: Week 1 (Mon-Fri), Week 2 (Mon-Tues), 8-hour days.

Additional Notes

• Must be able to scrub hearts and non-CVOR cases (orthopedics and general surgery).
• Call responsibilities are a required part of the role.
