Job Opportunity: RN Float Pool

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Summary

The RN Float Pool position requires specialized nursing knowledge, judgment, and skills to provide care to diverse patient groups. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences. Care is culturally based and age-specific, adhering to the Ohio Nurse Practice Act and ANA code of ethics.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment:

    • Perform holistic assessments of patients’ physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and educational needs.
    • Recognize and report abnormal data and changes in patient condition.
    • Collaborate with healthcare team members using appropriate handoff methods.
    • Assess safety risks for patients, families, and environment and implement safety initiatives.
  • Diagnosis and Planning:

    • Establish and prioritize individualized patient problems and needs.
    • Prepare and revise multidisciplinary care plans in collaboration with patients and families.
    • Set measurable goals for each problem and communicate plans using SBAR and handoff processes.
    • Initiate discharge planning upon admission and make appropriate referrals.
  • Implementation:

    • Provide evidence-based, quality care adhering to hospital policies and standards.
    • Perform and delegate nursing actions with critical thinking and accountability.
    • Provide ongoing patient and family education tailored to needs and care plans.
    • Respond skillfully to emergency situations.
    • Implement infection control and safety measures.
  • Evaluation:

    • Continuously evaluate nursing practice against evidence-based standards and patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg experience, including Med Surg experience within the last year
  • Float experience
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
