Job Description
Seeking an experienced Cath Lab Technologist for a travel contract in California. The role involves working in a Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology (IR) unit with 3 suites/labs. The average caseload is 8-12 cases per day. The position requires floating between IR, Cath Lab, and Electrophysiology (EP) labs.
Work Schedule & Call Requirements
- Shifts: 8-hour shifts, typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, self-scheduling available
- Weekend call: Required every other weekend (may vary), from Friday 3:30 PM to Monday 7:00 AM
- Evening weekday call: Required, shift from 3:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a 30-minute response time
- Holiday call: Required if working holidays
- Call team: One nurse and two techs on call
- Charge nurse available; supervisor on call after hours
Typical Cases
- IR: Venous placement, port-a-cath, fistula, biliary tube, nephrostomy tube, IVC filter
- Cath Lab: Left and right heart caths, STEMIs, ICDs, pacemakers, carotids, peripheral interventions
- EP Lab: Ablations, device implants (EP lab experience preferred)
Equipment & Systems
- EMR: Cerner - Xper
- Telemetry: Phillips
- Ventilators: Yes
Certifications & Licenses Required
- Active California Cath Lab Technologist license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIH certification
- Fluoroscopy certification
- RCIS or ARRT certification may be required depending on staffing needs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Cath Lab Technologist experience required
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required
Orientation & Training
- One week floor-specific orientation
Additional Information
- Floating between Cath Lab, IR, and EP labs is required
- Scrub color and scrubs are provided
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy support available
- No IV team on site
- Weekend and holiday call responsibilities apply to techs as well as nurses
