Job Opportunity: Telemetry Registered Nurse

Location: Paducah, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Prior travel experience is required.
  • Floating to similar units as needed.
  • Cardiac telemetry experience required, including:
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Pre/post cardiac patient care
    • Central line care and management
  • Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system required.
  • Scrub color: Royal Blue.

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • NIH Stroke Certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Kentucky.
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
  • Completion of at least one prior travel assignment.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • Education verification matching specialty required; diploma or transcript may be requested.
  • NURSYS verification for RN license required.
  • KY State Abuse Registry Check required for Home Health specialties (not applicable here).

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards).
  • Fit mask test (respirator fit test) required annually; religious exemption accepted with documentation.
  • Immunizations and testing required:
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer proof
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist must be completed and updated annually.
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing as applicable.
  • Badge photo required (headshot with solid light background).

Work Environment

  • Telemetry unit with cardiac patient care focus.
  • Floating to like units may be required.
  • Patient ratios typically 1:5 to 1:6.

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with prior travel experience who are comfortable managing cardiac patients and working in a fast-paced hospital environment.
