Job Opportunity: Step Down Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work in a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Shift schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating shifts possible based on operational needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background checks including 7-year history, fingerprinting (FBI and BCI), and education verification required and must be current.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start date confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
• References: 2 professional references from recent employment within 1 year required.

Orientation and Training

• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
• Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
• Medication and ECG competency exams required at orientation with remediation and retake opportunities if needed.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must have at least 3 years of prior work history including 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
• Candidates with gaps in employment or returning to the facility may have specific re-orientation or documentation requirements.
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation standards.
