Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Job Summary
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients, including diagnosing, evaluating, treating, managing, and controlling cardiopulmonary system deficiencies or abnormalities under physician orders. Acts as a resource to Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) staff and may handle special clinical projects or assignments as needed.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic testing procedures (e.g., arterial blood gases) according to protocol.
- Oversee and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure optimal patient care.
- Initiate respiratory protocols and interventions based on patient assessments.
- Administer medications safely and timely; evaluate and re-evaluate effects per protocol.
- Communicate patient progress to staff, physicians, and other departments.
- Monitor patients’ overall condition and make appropriate care recommendations.
- Educate patients and families on health promotion, wellness, and self-care techniques.
- Complete documentation accurately and according to departmental standards.
- Monitor supplies and equipment; report shortages or malfunctions.
- Utilize time effectively to meet productivity standards, including during low census.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute feedback.
- Promote organizational mission, vision, and values.
- May float to other departments within competency and qualifications.
- May be required to be on-call during scheduled shifts.
Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks (90 days converted to weeks).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Montana.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year.
