Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Position involves Med/Surg Telemetry nursing on a rotating day/night shift (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on operational needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam (SafeMedicate) with required passing scores.
• Documentation and hours submission will be managed electronically.

Required Experience

• Minimum 18 months recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry.
• Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Ohio RN license or a license from a compact state.
• Current certifications in:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year.
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• NIHSS certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Must pass ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety competency exams during orientation.
• Must have government-issued photo ID.
• Background checks including fingerprinting (FBI and state), education verification, and monthly compliance checks.
• Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
• Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year.

Additional Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
• Must complete medication and ECG competency exams with passing scores.
• References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start date (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 12 months and updated annually; facility fingerprinting also required.
• Must be willing to comply with facility policies and complete all onboarding requirements timely.
