Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position involves Med/Surg Telemetry nursing on a rotating day/night shift (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shifts may vary based on operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition test and medication safety exam (SafeMedicate) with required passing scores.
- Documentation and hours submission will be managed electronically.
Required Experience
- Minimum 18 months recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry.
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel assignments.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Ohio RN license or a license from a compact state.
- Current certifications in:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIHSS certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Must pass ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety competency exams during orientation.
- Must have government-issued photo ID.
- Background checks including fingerprinting (FBI and state), education verification, and monthly compliance checks.
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
- Must complete medication and ECG competency exams with passing scores.
- References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start date (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 12 months and updated annually; facility fingerprinting also required.
- Must be willing to comply with facility policies and complete all onboarding requirements timely.
