Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PICU

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with patients up to 25 years old.
  • Rotating day/night shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm). Shift rotation may be required based on hospital operational needs.
  • Experience with epilepsy monitoring and specialized pediatric care is essential.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.
  • Orientation includes passing ECG rhythm recognition and safeMedicate competency tests.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients.
  • Experience in epilepsy monitoring.
  • Experience with inotropes.
  • Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) must be current and updated annually.
  • Education verification required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including capability assessment for essential job functions.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
  • Drug screening (standard 10 panel) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year.
  • References: 2 professional references from within 1 year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).

Additional Information

  • Candidates must complete facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video content must be watched before testing.
  • Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months since last assignment may need to repeat onboarding modules.
  • Candidates must have legal name matching on all documents.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility.
  • Orientation includes baseline competency exams with required passing scores (90% medication, 80% ECG).
  • Traveler must be prepared to comply with facility policies and complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start.
