Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • May float to units with similar acuity.
  • Focus on postpartum care, mother-baby, and couplet care.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Labor and Delivery experience.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • IV start skills.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred.

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for ER, ER OB, and ER Psych units.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required for Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and OB units.
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (AWHONN certification accepted without 2-year expiration).
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (exceptions apply for certain units and remote positions).
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required prior to start.
  • Unit-specific competency exams required.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually.
  • NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit (must be obtained within 1 year of start and renewed every 2 years if applicable).

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including SS trace, counties lived/worked, nationwide search, sex offender registry, and motor vehicle record if driving is part of the job.
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days or results are older than 1 year.
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
  • Education accreditation confirmation required immediately after contract signing.
  • Employment application and skills checklist required.
  • Dress code and hand hygiene policy acknowledgment required.
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
  • Ethics and compliance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged annually.

Health & Safety

  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen required within 3 months of start; no pending drug screens allowed at start.
  • Physical exam confirming good health and free of contagious disease required within 1 year of start.
  • Immunizations and titers as listed above required.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or mask-wearing if declined during flu season.
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended; proof of primary vaccination collected if available.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared to complete Ohio-specific fingerprinting using designated codes.
  • Fingerprinting results can take 1-2 weeks or longer if done via mail-in packet.
  • Background check and fingerprinting processes are time-sensitive and must be completed prior to or shortly after start date.
  • Candidates with breaks in service longer than 90 days may require updated fingerprinting and background checks.

This position is ideal for experienced postpartum Registered Nurses with strong clinical skills in labor & delivery and mother-baby care, who are comfortable working in a travel/contract role in Ohio. Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not required.
